Not only will the beta be expanded to include PC and Xbox One players, PS4 players will also get another chance to play. Like the first weekend, the second test is also split into two legs.
Late on Friday, September 20 early morning Saturday in Europe the beta opens up to players on all three platforms, regardless of pre-orders. The whole thing ends on Monday, September The Modern Warfare beta client is available now to pre-load on PS4 for all players, since the beta is open for the entire duration on PS4.
PC Battle. Just download Battle. Those who did not pre-order won't be able to play, however, until later on Friday. Xbox One pre-load is available now, but only for those who pre-ordered.
The beta's Xbox Store page won't allow you to download it without a code. This is a bummer for those only interested in the open portion of the beta. As previously explained, the Modern Warfare beta weekend's first two days are exclusive to players who pre-ordered the full game.
The only exception to this is PS4, where players get all days of this weekend regardless of whether they pre-ordered. For PC and Xbox One, if your pre-order was made at retail, you should already have a code which you'll need to redeem on the official Call of Duty site. Sony and Activision launched the game early, and you can click here to start the download to your PS4.
This alpha is for the Gunfight mode only. This is a new 2v2 game mode where you take on another team and the first to win five rounds wins the match. You can see this in action in the video below. Don't worry if you don't regularly play online games either, because you don't need PS Plus to play this alpha. There's no word on the size of the alpha download yet but since it's only the Gunfight mode, it shouldn't be too large in size.
Make sure you set it to download as soon as possible and you should be good to go by the time the alpha actually starts at the same time on August In terms of actually finding it to download, you should be able to get it by searching for the "Modern Warfare 2v2 alpha" on the PS Store. We all know how unreliable the PS Store is however, so if you can't locate it, search for "Modern Warfare" and scroll down the list of results.
Note that the Modern Warfare alpha is separate to the Modern Warfare beta which is coming next month, and that this free taste of Modern Warfare only has the 2v2 Gunfight mode, and is exclusive to PS4 players.
In order to download the Modern Warfare alpha, the only pre-requisite is that you're on PS4.
